The twilight definitely brought out the blue.

Spring in downtown NYC!
I spotted this lovely thing while grabbing coffee with Bud this afternoon. It made me want to make a yellow cake with pink icing.

I'm on the lookout for a bike again. Three things about my current bike: that it's from the 70s, that it's a cruiser, and that it's a girl's bike make it next to impossible to carry to and from my walk-up. So it's permanently in my apartment now. What I need: a single speed (fewer gears: lighter, also more nimble for quick streets-of-NY decisions), and a boy's bike (good for hoisting onto my shoulder when carrying up stairs). I hope I find something before it gets too hot to commute.

Candy
This is the worst quality picture since the early 2000s, probably,

but I still like the bike. Makes me want a lollipop or something.

It was a chilly and gray day, and I saw this one coming out of a coffee shop, shortly after I bought earbuds that kind of match. It would be kind of silly to wear them while riding the bike, no? Silly or perfect.

White and gold FTMFW
There I was, walking back to work after coffee shop + walk with Bud, and my heart stopped.

This is quite possibly the most beautiful bike I have ever seen, both online and in real life. I wish, wish, wish I had had my real camera on me. If I never see it again, it will remain through the lens of my 8310. Swooooon.

Green in SoHo
I met my friend Matt for lunch @ Fanelli's yesterday, and got to meet his bike for the first time.

Isn't it a beauty? I can't even describe how bright it is IRL.

cute typography /detailing
I was walking around a cute neighborhood on a particularly sunny day, when this color combination caught my eye.

Then I walked a little closer and saw the wonderful, wonderful detailing painted (or decal'ed) on:

10-speed: check. bright (white) wheels: check! I love it. Wonder where s/he got that done.

Bike riding weather is back.
Last weekend, the weather was beautiful.

These two bikes are quite different but equally wonderful. I love the script on the above, and I love the powder blue with lemony trim below. Oh, and the white handlebar tape. Makes me want lemon meringue pie.

popPOP
While on a walk, in search of whatever coffee shop I first walked by:

Now that looks like a proper 1970s cruiser.

Wicked
The colors of this toasty cruiser remind me of how Jacques Torres' wicked hot chocolate tastes.

If that bike rack (well, and the fence) had not been there, it would look better. Ah well, still nice.

Perfect, perfect, perfect.
I couldn't think of a dreamier one.

The curviness, the splash guards, the brown shade of the handlebars and seat put against that teal, the curls of the black iron gate /fence, all of it. You're one lucky bike owner, whoever you are.

Civil War rider
I saw this springy seafoam & yellow Bianchi yesterday, one of the coincidentally springiest days I remember.

The bike's owner was sitting next to it, looking around and wearing a Civil War-style hat. Hope he didn't mind.

Vegetable craving
I love the silhouette of this cruiser. And the basket!

I saw this one adjacent to the gradient 80s spray paint-looking one (see below). I told Ira that it made me want to eat asparagus.

80s
Saw this bike from the window as I was having lunch yesterday.

Reminds me of the types I would see in KMart or Sears when I was a kid. I'd feel lasery while riding it.

Cake batter
Oh, bother. I took this over a month ago and forgot to post it! Well, here you go.

I know I know, another one that isn't exactly a bicycle, but Vespas are just so pretty, don't you agree? This buttery beauty showed up on the way to lunch. An Italian lunch, even. Can't get any more perfect than that.

blurry beauty
I was walking around at 4.45pm last night. I wouldn't normally say "last night" when referring to that hour, but since the time changed and it was my first early sunset of the fall, it felt like night.

Anyway, my point. During this sunset (the sky literally looked like it was on fire), I passed by the most perfect-looking vintage cruiser, ever. I am pretty sure it was a Schwinn. Look, red handlebars, half red seat, everything red red red. I wanted to bite into it like a candied apple.

Is summer really over?
While walking back home from dropping off my own bike for a tune-up, I saw this.

It made me want to listen to "Fallen from the Sky" by Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova and eat a huge slice of birthday cake.
(great shadow on the sidewalk, too)
