blurry beauty

I was walking around at 4.45pm last night. I wouldn't normally say "last night" when referring to that hour, but since the time changed and it was my first early sunset of the fall, it felt like night.

Blurry. Rats.

Anyway, my point. During this sunset (the sky literally looked like it was on fire), I passed by the most perfect-looking vintage cruiser, ever. I am pretty sure it was a Schwinn. Look, red handlebars, half red seat, everything red red red. I wanted to bite into it like a candied apple.

Is summer really over?

While walking back home from dropping off my own bike for a tune-up, I saw this.

Delicious.

It made me want to listen to "Fallen from the Sky" by Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova and eat a huge slice of birthday cake.

(great shadow on the sidewalk, too)

Bzzzzz.

I was on my way to find parts for a skeleton outfit this chilly day, and came across this.

A bee

It reminded me of my Halloween costume-wish before I came up with my current one (you'll see). A bee.

Greenie

I saw this beauty while on a quest for a vase yesterday.

Greenie

Love the two shades of green!

Park Sunday

My friend Roxy and I got breakfast sandwiches and ate them in the park 2 weekends ago.

Two weekends ago, with Roxy

We saw this guy relaxing with his hot pink bike next to him. You can see bits of grass on his shirt, maybe he was napping. Looks like the pinnacle of lazy Sundays (in the stupendous way).

A different sort of bike

I saw this on my way to work this morning, through the grayness of the weather.

shiny shiny

Yes, this blog is about bicycles, not moped thingies, but this Vespa was just so shiny. And I loved the yellow circle sticker on the front; everything seemed to fall together perfectly in this scene. So here we go.

Bigger.

I should really stop using the "blog this picture" function on Flickr. It's awesome and convenient, but the bigness and wonderfulness of the bike isn't usually shown as easily. I snapped this one on the way to a late dinner with my boyfriend this weeked; my phone captured it in the darkness surprisingly well.

Perfect for BK in summer

I can just picture soaring down Brooklyn hills on this bike. It's pretty much perfect for a cool summer night (of which this weekend saw many! Thank you, weather gods).

Sad but pretty

It almost looks like a ghost bike.

Sad but pretty

I found this "blue spray-painted to white" skeleton of a cruiser this morning. I think I've seen it before, but not here. Strange that it would get moved, in its condition?

There could be nothing better

Isn't this just perfect?

There could be nothing better

I saw it while walking to meet my best friend for burritos yesterday evening. Even though it gets dark sooo late in NY lately, the light bulb still made it.

I saw the saddest sign while walking from dinner to Tasti D'Lite this evening. There were two of them on the same fence. It's such a good gate to hook a bike up to, also. I guess that's the owners' point. :\

dark grey & lavender handlebars

I saw this on my way somewhere this morning. What a nice color combination, I don't know if I would have thought of it.

He was cautious of my photographing it; he mentioned that putting exact street corners down for lovely bikes might make it easy for them to be stolen (he noticed another beautiful Bianchi on this blog and mentioned that another fan (a creepy one) could have easily scouted that area to find it).

So, good point. I won't be posting locations of bikes anymore. This photo may or may not have been taken in Queens. Or SoHo. You'll never know! Thanks for the tip, sir.

right inside the front door of Naked.

This is the second beautiful and mysterious bike I have seen in my office. It's a Peugeot. gorgeous.
